Haka and SJK lock horns in this Veikkausliiga Conference League Playoffs Final 1st leg battle at Tehtaan Kenttä in Valkeakoski late Wednesday evening Beijing time. Yes, SJK are the better team here in terms of pure class, there is no denying that. However, they took only two more points than Haka in the regular season. SJK scored 46 goals but their defence was surprisingly leaky, allowing 44 goals – one more than Haka.. Their defenders often take too big risks with the ball but this is the way their head coach has wanted his players to play.. Haka lost an important young player, Juho Kilo, midseason – he was sold to the Netherlands, to ADO Den Haag. However, his departure has hurt Haka less than I would have expected.. Haka were the slightly better team against Gnistan - having 55% ball possession and more goal attempts and shots on off goal than Gnistan. Both teams had six shots on goal. Against Inter Haka were pretty clear underdogs on the betting market but were brilliant, recording three more goal attempts than Inter and allowing the visitors just one shot on target!  Haka were clearly undervalued by the bookies and the same is true versus SJK here!  SJK are the favourites even on the road, but not by a wide margin! The odds of around 1.95 on the away win are way too low! We will take the Haka +0.5 goals handicap option !Before the two wins, Haka lost to VPS at home 2-3 but recorded more goal attempts – 7-5 to be precise. Both teams managed four shots on target. It was a decent performance from Haka as a whole..  I want to highlight that they are a much better team than the list of players would suggest. According to my sources they also have a great team spirit at the moment. 




SJK have been in poor form, losing three games in a row – scoring just once! Moreover, they have won just one of their last nine matches, losing 6/9. In their last game they were crushed by Ilves  - 4-0 was the final score -  at Tammelan Stadion. The hosts were chasing the championship in this game and were the much better team on the pitch! However, the final score does flatter Ilves.. Before this SJK fought well, but lost to the eventual champions, KuPS, 0-1 at home after a pretty balanced clash. Before this SJK were abysmal, losing to VPS 1-4 at home as very clear favourites, priced around 1.60 to win.. SJK were strangely imbalanced on the pitch.. No, they were not as poor as the final score would suggest but with this kind of performance they will probably lose to Haka as well..  SJK can, however, improve, perhaps even significantly -  but the probability of a sudden and major raise in their level is not rather low..
